SAC Celebrates the Transitus of St. Francis with Faith and Resilience

The Saint Anthony’s College of Sta. Ana, Cagayan Inc. (SAC) community once again commemorated the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi on October 03, 2025 through a hybrid celebration that combined virtual participation and limited face-to-face attendance. Despite the challenges brought by Typhoon Paolo, the celebration pushed through, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to faith and tradition.

The Transitus has long been a cherished tradition at Saint Anthony’s College, performed annually to honor the passing of St. Francis of Assisi from earthly life to eternal glory. It serves as a time of reflection and gratitude for the life of the saint who embodied humility, simplicity, and love for God’s creation.

The ceremony opened with a welcoming message from Sr. Ellen S. Labrador, FAS, PhD, the College President, who emphasized the significance of the Transitus as a reminder of St. Francis’ faith, humility, and devotion to God, encouraging the community to live out these values in their daily lives.

This year’s performance was the result of the consolidated efforts of teachers and students, who worked together to bring to life not only the final moments of St. Francis of Assisi but also to reflect on the moral challenges faced by today’s society. Before the Transitus proper, the presentation highlighted pressing issues such as corruption and the excessive use of gadgets, which often lead people to lose genuine communication and connection with their loved ones. Through this meaningful prelude, the performers reminded the audience of the importance of honesty, compassion, and human connection—virtues deeply embodied by St. Francis.

Through dramatization, dances, and prayers, they depicted the saint’s enduring faith and devotion, encouraging everyone to return to the essence of humility, peace, and love for both God and others. Their collaboration reflected the shared mission of the college to integrate learning, service, and spirituality.

By continuing the annual Transitus performance, Saint Anthony College reaffirms its dedication to the Franciscan values of faith, peace, and compassion. The successful conduct of the hybrid celebration amid Typhoon Paolo stands as a testament to the community’s resilience and deep spiritual devotion.
